When you cut flower stems with this knife. Please cut them so as to draw the stems on the blade forward without moving the knife.
In peeling an apple, you peel it without moving the knife, it is the same as the action.

How to grip the florist knife
1. Grip the back of the root part of the blade with the first joint of the forefinger and grip the handle with the middle finger, ring finger and the little finger.
2. Make the thumb in parallel to the blade.

The crafting process of a custom knife

The "custom knife"is a handmade knife that is not a mass-produced product.

(1)Selecting materials, die-cutting, drilling, stretching
ATS-34 stainless steel which has excellent sharpness and durability is used for the material of the blade.
The blade material is die-cut, a hole is drilled in the cut part, then the part is stretched and the bend is corrected.

(2)plane polishing, quenching
The part is adjusted to constant thickness by plane polishing and is quenched at a high temperature to increase the hardness.

(3)shaving,sharpening plow
The part is shaved and sharpened to be a thin blade that cuts well.

(4)arrangement , caulking
After assembling the parts, holes are drilled in blade part and handle part and then a pin is passed through them, and spread by hitting both ends of the pin, and tighten or firmly fixed.
"Caulking" is a process that Fukuta thinks it is the most important.
Depending on the material, there is a risk to crack, caulking is one of the difficult techniques that requires acceleration by skilled craftsman.

(5) Paper cliff, polishing, sharpening, inspection and adjustment
The handle is checked by holding one by one and shaved to be easier to hold. Then it is polished to be glossy. Finally, cutting edge is put to a whetstone, and make sure that the blade moves in opening and shutting smoothly.

How to care

After use, please wipe off the moisture and dirt cleanly and storage.
